Detailed summary
Memorable quotes
Gus: The beating of the corpse man's drum will not rat-a-tat-tat on this happening, darlings.
Thorn: I'm a good look for you, Daphne.
Gus: Let loose the doves of change!
Gus: Pray think I'm the phantom because I was Fantzee Pantz's manager? Heh heh heh. Groovy chiclets. Fantzee Pantz went down the rabbit hole after the record gods dumped him to make room for the Hex Girls. Poor Fantzee. We knew him well.
Mayor Jones: Bug-eyed biscuits, Fred, couldn't you have waited until after the show to catch the phantom?
Gus: Doth my eye shadow deceive? How did you know?
Daniel: And I'd do it again, if it weren't for the uncanny boy band knowledge of you meddling brats!

Behind the scenes
- The Hex Girls originally appeared in the direct-to-video film Scooby-Doo! and the Witch's Ghost. They are also appeared in another film Scooby-Doo! and the Legend of the Vampire, and the What's New, Scooby-Doo? episode "The Vampire Strikes Back." Out of all those appearances, this is the first time they have been given completely new designs.
- EarTube is a parody of YouTube.
- Gus can only be implied to be gay when he called the Mayor "Mayor Handsome," despite not being particularly handsome, although everyone's entitled to their own opinion.
- Fred remembers back to when he showed Daphne his trap scrapbook in "The Creeping Creatures," and when they danced at prom in the previous episode, "The Legend of Alice May."
- In "Battle of the Humungonauts," the Terror Dome Stadium has been renamed Crystal Cove Stadium for no apparent reason.
- None of the gang say their catchphrases.
- Special thanks are given to Joe Ruby and Ken Spears, not because they worked on this episode, but because they created Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!
Errors
- Fred also recalls a third scene from "Battle of the Humungonauts," which not only happened two episodes later, but the scene in question where Daphne takes off her hardhat in beautiful slow motion never even happened.
- It should be an error that Daphne finally becomes her own woman and moves on from Fred, only to forget all that growth when Fred is open to one day possibly exploring his feelings with Daphne. One day.
- The song "Hex Girl" is credited as "Hex Girls."
Legacy
- The Hex Girls made a second appearance in "Dance of the Undead."
- Shaggy mentions that Harry got sent to prison along with Daniel, although he must've got him back because he's in Shaggy's bedroom in "Battle of the Humongonauts."

- In the The Mentalist episode "Pink Tops," the Concepcions' daughter is seen watching the TV, with audio heard from this Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated episode, specifically when Shaggy is trying to get Scooby to talk to him, otherwise they'll have to find new best friends, which Scooby agrees to.
Marketing and promotion
- Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated had a panel at the San Diego Comic Con International 2010, with this episode having an exclusive preview.
- The episode inspired the seventh stage of Cartoon Network to update their online game, Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated: Crystal Cove Online, which was updated at the time of the episode's release.
